A note from the chair

Just a couple of bits, Keith found in the Rider magazine.

Driving Licences & Increased Taxation

Driving Licences.

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/motorcycleved/

When renewing your licence the DVLA will now return your old licence. This will be returned with a hole punched in it. This should alleviate the problems with entitlement to ride, drive etc. being missed off the new licence, which has happened, to many in the past.

You just need to send a stamped, self addressed envelope, with your renewal.

Don’t know what will happen if you are just having endorsements removed.

Increased Taxation

In the Chancellors pre-budget report, he reported increases to Road fund licences, for all vehicles, of 4 – 6%.

The BMF are arguing for this to be scrapped for motorcyles, in the current economic climate.

There is a decrease in the sale of motorcycles, about 27% year on year, and no assistance from the Government. (like the car scrappage scheme).

There is a petition to the Prime Minister, and the BMF are requesting as many people as possible sign this.

The petition can be found at
